At Lyfcycle, we dream of a sustainable future for fashion, that’s accessible to all, without harm to people and planet. Skopes share that dream, that’s why in 2019 we set out on our collective pursuit towards cleaner, greener tailoring. As we move into the new year, there’s no slowing down and we’re moving full steam ahead in our search for greener horizons!
At the time of penning this piece, no-one is really sure where their Christmas or New Year’s celebrations will take place this year. Yet two things are for sure; Santa Claus will still be out delivering gifts into the wee small hours of the 25th, and Auld Lang Syne will still be belted out when the clock strike’s 12 on the 31st, and for these occasions, we think it’s never been more worth dressing up for.
We’re at that latter stage of 2020 – and yes, don’t ask how it suddenly went from March to November in the blink of a pandemic – where we’re starting to hear murmurs of our favourite C-word. Ah, Christmas!! Actually, Christmas gifting to be exact. To celebrate the festive season and add a little cheer into our day, today we wanted to bring together some of our favourite pieces of our 2020 collection, designed to inspire your present purchasing.
While we spoke in length about which style of outerwear is in vogue this season in our last post, with British weather being as unpredictable as it’s renowned for, there’s always space for a lightweight throw-on to smarten up any outfit. Which is where the blazer steps into the spotlight.
As we start to embrace the colder months, investing in a winter coat is a must. And while there are certainly a number of classic styles that come around time and time again, today we wanted to share the outerwear trends that are worthy of consideration.
Long gone are the days of tweed only being pulled out of the wardrobe for a spot of shooting in the countryside or worn by your old university professor, complete with suede elbow patches that had seen better days. This season, tweed takes a modern twist and here at Skopes we have created a capsule collection of tweed tailoring that is not only stylish, but functional, versatile, and long wearing.
Regardless of whether this year brings Prom, or the event is rescheduled until next year, for many young men this milestone moment is often the first time you will wear a suit. There will be photographs galore, people to impress and the perfect occasion to go out in style. Here at Skopes we understand just how important that first suit really is, which is why our collection doesn’t just stop at Dad’s wardrobe. With that said, we wanted to share 5 fashion “rules” of Prom – actually forget that, let’s call them sartorial guidelines instead. If there’s ever a night for the rules to be broken, it’s Prom…
As being stationed at home becomes the norm for many workers for the foreseeable future, dressing for the “office” has been harder to navigate than a group Zoom call. And while the first couple of weeks of lockdown presented the opportunity to work solely in jogging bottoms and shirt up top in preparation for an unexpected video call, we soon realised the way we dressed affected how we worked. It’s fair to say that dressing the part affects not only confidence and productivity, but it also adds a sense of routine to what could often be described as an unpredictable climate. So how do we embrace a new working from home wardrobe? We'll take you through some ways you can look stylish whilst you're not in the office.
A suit should feel as good as it looks. That’s a mantra we stand by here at Skopes. But for many of us, we feel even better knowing the choices we make are positively supporting our planet.
It’s fair to say waistcoats have experienced a resurgence over the last couple of years. You just have to look at the power of Thomas Shelby and the other expertly styled cast of Peaky Blinders to see how men have been inspired to embrace a waistcoat moment again.
